The German Foreign Ministry has named Tobias Lindner, who currently serves as a State Minister in the department, to the position of the country's representative for Syria, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told journalists.
Report informs via TASS that Baerbock said this involves developing established channels of interaction with the Syrian side.
"This also means that we will, of course, expand our [diplomatic] presence in light of further developments [in Syria]. That is why today I appointed a special coordinator of the Foreign Ministry for Syria," the minister emphasized.
Baerbock also said that Germany will allocate 8 million euros for humanitarian aid to Syrians.
