France continues to support the organization Equality Movement, which operates in Georgia.
According to Report, the organization, which has been advocating for LGBT rights for many years, published a statement on social media confirming support from France.
The message notes that the French Ambassador to Georgia, Sheraz Gasri, visited the organization's office, where the parties discussed issues of further cooperation. One of the key topics of the meeting was the expansion of medical and psychological services provided by the Equality Movement.
Previously, the organization had repeatedly received funding from various international bodies, including Western funds. The open support from the French embassy is causing discussions in Georgian society, considering that such initiatives contradict the country's traditional values and family foundations.
Moreover, this brings to the forefront the issue of external interference in Georgia's internal affairs. Despite the efforts of Georgian society to protect the institution of the family, the activities of such organizations and their international funding continue to raise questions.
Equality Movement was established in 2014 and receives support from the European Union, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Open Society Foundation, and other international funds.
