Baku. 7 January. REPORT.AZ/ Moshe Arens, a former Israeli defense minister, foreign minister and an early political mentor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, died Monday. He was 93, Report informs with reference to Haaretz.
Arens is also seen as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's political patron.
Arens served as Minister of Defense three times, and also headed the Israeli Foreign Ministry at various times in his life and served as Israeli ambassador to the United States. According to the newspaper, Ahrens retired from politics after the failure of the Likud party in the 1992 elections and returned only briefly in 1999. In the last years of his life, Professor Moshe Arens was a columnist for the newspaper Haaretz.
