Former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic dies at 84

Former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic, who was serving a sentence for war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, passed away today at the age of 84, Report informs, citing Serbian media.

According to the information, he died in the UN detention unit in The Hague.

Mladic was a former general and Commander of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia sentenced him to life imprisonment for war crimes.

During the war, Mladic was dubbed the "Butcher of Bosnia" for his role in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre during the Bosnian War.
