In a bizarre twist to a robbery case, Florida police recovered diamond earrings worth $770,000 that had been swallowed by the suspect during his arrest.
Report informs via Sky News that the man was initially apprehended in February after he stole jewelry from a Tiffany & Co. store. He had claimed to be buying earrings and a ring for an Orlando Magic basketball player, but instead snatched the items and fled.
Authorities tracked the suspect through surveillance footage and captured him nearly 340 miles away, in Washington County. When stopped for a traffic violation, he admitted, “I should have thrown them out the window.” Later, in jail, he questioned, “Will I be charged for what’s in my stomach?”
After medical observation, the remaining stolen jewelry was recovered, and the serial numbers confirmed they matched the stolen Tiffany pieces. The man now faces charges of robbery and grand theft.
