The Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs has introduced a bill restricting the movement of asylum seekers near the border, Report informs referring to TASS.
“Applicants must remain at or near the border while their application is being processed. In practice, the applicant must remain within the premises of their assigned [refugee] reception center,” reads the document.
The purpose of these changes is to improve the processing of unfounded asylum applications and the return of unsuccessful applicants. Legislative changes will also prevent the movement of asylum seekers from one EU member state to another, the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
