EU remains tight-lipped on Baltic Sea cable incident culprits

The European Union has stated that it cannot identify those responsible for the recent damage to underwater telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea. The EU has also clarified that it does not link this incident to the decision to lift restrictions on the use of Western long-range weapons on Russian territory.

According to Russian media, as cited by Report, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell made these statements during a press conference following a meeting of EU defense ministers. "The EU has already reacted to these incidents. We cannot yet name those responsible for these incidents, so as not to add fuel to the fire," he said. Borrell added that speculating on this topic now would be irresponsible.

The EU diplomat also noted that he sees no connection between the cable damage and the US decision to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia.
