The European Council today adopted an assistance measure worth €120 million under the European Peace Facility in support of the Moldovan Armed Forces to enhance the country's air defence capabilities, according to a statement.
The assistance measure will finance a mid-range air defence system for the benefit of the Armed Forces. "It complements previous EPF assistance measures in support of air surveillance and air defense. This support will continue to enable the Moldovan Armed Forces to improve their operational effectiveness and thereby better protect civilians," the EC said.
This new action brings the EU's overall support to Moldova to €317 million under the European Peace Facility.
