The former head of the European Commission, former Prime Minister of Poland, and leader of the Polish opposition Donald Tusk said that Poland might leave the European Union if power in the country does not change at the next elections, Report informs.

“On October 15, either we will remove PiS (the conservative Law and Justice party), or PiS will withdraw us from the European Union,” the politician said said in a post on X.

Elections to the Polish Sejm and Senate will take place on October 15, 2023.

This week, German MEP Gunnar Beck appealed to the EC with a proposal to expel Poland from the EU.

According to Article 7 of the Treaty on the European Union, a country can be expelled from the union if there is a clear threat of a serious violation by any Member State of the EU values.

In the summer, a visa scandal broke out in Poland. According to investigators, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Piotr Wawrzyk prepared a plan to facilitate the issuance of Schengen visas to temporary workers from 20 countries, due to which about 400,000 foreigners entered the country.
