US President Donald Trump stated that the new Chair of the Federal Reserve System (Fed), Kevin Warsh, must be fully independent, including from the president himself.
According to Report, Trump made the remarks at the White House during the swearing-in ceremony for the new head of the regulator.
According to Trump, the Fed chair should focus exclusively on carrying out the responsibilities of the position and should not be guided by political leadership.
The US president had previously criticized the policies of former Fed Chair Jerome Powell, calling for a reduction in the benchmark interest rate.
