China will hold the Winter Olympics in accordance with the plans, despite the spread of the omicron strain in the world, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian said during a briefing on Tuesday, Report informs, citing Prime.
“Regarding the impact of the omicron strain on the Winter Olympics, I think it will definitely bring some prevention and control challenges, but thanks to China's experience in preventing the spread and combating COVID-19, I have full confidence that the Winter Olympics will be successfully carried out in accordance with the schedule," the diplomat emphasized.
The Winter Olympics in Beijing will be held on February 4 to 20 next year.
