Mark Carney is slated to take oath as Canada's prime minister on March 14, CTV television noted on March 12, Report informs via TASS.
The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the residence of Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon. Along with Carney, members of his cabinet will also be sworn in, but it is still unclear who they are. Incumbent Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will resign right before the ceremony.
On March 9, the ruling Liberal Party of Canada elected former Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney as its new leader. He will serve as prime minister until the next parliamentary elections, which are currently scheduled for October 20. There is a chance that Carney could call an early election. Trudeau has been in office since 2015.
