Senior military officials from Cambodia and Thailand have reached a comprehensive agreement to end hostilities during a high-level meeting held in Malaysia's capital, Report reports, citing Thai media.
The two sides agreed on a 13-point ceasefire framework and signed a formal protocol aimed at reducing border tensions and restoring peace along the shared frontier.
The meeting, which lasted just over an hour, concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding outlining both nations’ shared commitment to de-escalation and the prevention of future conflict. The agreement was jointly drafted over recent weeks by Thailand’s defense authorities and the Secretariat of the Supreme Cambodian Council.
“The goal is to ensure peace and peaceful coexistence between the peoples of both countries,” a Thai government representative stated, emphasizing Thailand’s ongoing support for bilateral mechanisms to enable constructive dialogue.
In a statement released ahead of the talks, Thai official Nattaphon noted that both sides would work on developing clear guidelines to manage border disputes, rebuild military trust, and implement ceasefire measures aimed at reducing tensions and protecting civilians.
