British foreign secretary says Russia should be fully excluded from SWIFT

"The UK would like to see a full ban on Russia from the SWIFT payment system and all the G7 countries ending its use of Russian oil and gas," British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said, speaking alongside her American counterpart Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, Report informs.

"So we must go further and faster in our response. We must double down on our sanctions. We will speed up our work to establish economic and safety alliances all over the world, including India and the Gulf countries, in order to further isolate Russia," she added.

Truss noted that if Russian President Vladimir Putin is not stopped in Ukraine, it will result in catastrophic consequences for European and global security: "We will openly state that sovereign countries can be trampled on. Therefore, our response to Moscow must be faster and stronger."

"The UK is not seeking to set up a no-fly zone over evacuation corridors in Ukraine as that would "lead to a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. And that is not what we are looking at," she said.
