Belgium to increase defense spending

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has confirmed that another 1 billion euros will be allocated to the Ministry of Defense to increase the combat capability and training of troops, Report informs via Interfax.
The Belgian official revealed the government plan after the NATO summit in Brussels.
“The government has decided to allocate one billion euros to the Ministry of Defense for the period 2022-2025, in addition to investments of about ten billion euros (for the period until 2030 - ed.), which were decided at the end of January,” De Croo said.
The additional funding is intended, in particular, to strengthen the cybersecurity unit of the armed forces, upgrade fuel and ammunition reserves, military equipment, and improve intelligence and communications systems.
