At least 4 killed, 3 hurt in Pennsylvania house explosion

At least four people were killed and three others injured in a house explosion in Plum, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Report informs referring to CBS News.

The explosion destroyed three structures and damaged at least a dozen others, authorities said.

An eighth person remains missing.

Some 911 dispatchers received a call that multiple houses were on fire due to an explosion. Responding officers and firefighters arrived to find "people trapped under the debris," Allegheny County officials reported.

Four people were later confirmed dead in the incident, Allegheny County officials reported on social media. Three others were hospitalized, two in stable condition and one in critical condition.

An eighth person remains "unaccounted for," county officials said.

More than 20 firefighters were evaluated, many for heat exhaustion.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Plum and county law enforcement, as well as the county fire marshal's office, are investigating, and the state public utilities commission and local utilities were also at the scene.
