Air base in Romania to be turned into town for NATO soldiers for 2.5B euros

The Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase in Romania will turn into a military camp where 10,000 NATO soldiers and their families can live, this will require an investment of 2.5 billion euros, Report informs referring to Romania’s Pro TV.
Buildings, hospitals and schools will be built at the airbase. For this purpose, more than 2,300 hectares of arable land were exported. It is also planned to double the runway there, build fuel depots and several hangars for fighter jets and drones.
Work began in the southern part of the future military camp, where access roads and a powerful electrical network are now being built. It is also planned to create urban infrastructure - kindergartens, schools, a hospital, shops and amusement parks.
