Role of parliaments in developing Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations discussed

Chairperson of Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova has met with Chairperson of the Uzbek Senate Tanzila Narbaeva, who is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the Parliamentary Meeting organized jointly by Azerbaijan's parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union within the COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova thanked the guest for participating in this important event held in Azerbaijan and for her speech. The undeniable importance of global cooperation in addressing the world's climate change challenges was noted, as well as the key role of parliaments in this direction.

During the conversation, the Azerbaijani parliament speaker noted the high level of relations between the two countries. She especially emphasized the important role of mutual presidential visits and negotiations in developing comprehensive ties. The importance of signed documents for developing cooperation and deepening strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was noted.

The speaker noted with satisfaction the participation of Uzbekistan's leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev in COP29 during his visit to Azerbaijan, as well as the video-linked opening ceremony of a sewing factory in Khankandi on November 13 after the meeting between Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It was noted that the assistance of our Uzbek friends in building a school in Fuzuli and creating this excellent enterprise in Khankandi, where thousands of people will be employed in a short time, is a manifestation of brotherly relations.

The chairperson noted the successful development of cooperation between legislative bodies, stating that inter-parliamentary friendship groups operating in the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan contribute to the development of bilateral relations. It was noted that deputies also cooperate effectively in international parliamentary organizations.

The Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva expressed gratitude for the meeting and invitation to such a significant event. She congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting such a prestigious event as COP29 at a high level and noted the importance of the issues discussed there for the world's future.

The meeting participants emphasized the role of parliaments in developing relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, and the importance of mutual delegation visits was discussed. Narbaeva recalled with satisfaction her meetings with Sahiba Gafarova, emphasizing the role of such meetings in strengthening cooperation between legislative bodies.
