Foreign experts who voice support for Azerbaijan are facing pressure and persecution from the Armenian diaspora, Milli Majlis deputy Fariz Ismailzada said during public hearings on the role of NGOs in the process of Azerbaijanis' return to Western Azerbaijan.
"The Armenian diaspora sends letters to the universities where these experts work, puts pressure on departments, and forces them to shut down. Therefore, we must protect our foreign friends and experts, including through our embassies," said the parliamentarian.
The deputy also emphasized the importance of promoting the return process to Western Azerbaijan.
"History has shown that peoples who were deported later returned to their ancestral lands. Scientific articles and research are highly valued in international academic circles, so we should increase their number. Furthermore, we must strive to create scientific departments in foreign universities," Ismailzada added.
