Categories falling under amnesty revealed

The amnesty in Azerbaijan will apply to those who took part in the Patriotic War and other military operations to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, as well as to close relatives of those killed or missing in this war and during military operations.

Report informs that this is reflected in the draft decision "On the declaration of amnesty on the occasion of November 8 - Victory Day" signed by President Ilham Aliyev and submitted to parliament.

Moreover, the amnesty covers those who have been awarded orders and medals for their participation in military operations carried out in the name of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in the Patriotic War, as well as for other special merits; those who were injured during the Khojaly genocide, relatives of the dead and missing persons; those deported from Armenia as a result of the policy of ethnic cleansing, terrorism and genocide in 1948-1953 and 1988-1992; displaced persons who fled their native lands as a result of the occupation of a part of the territory of Azerbaijan by the Armenians in 1988-1993; those disabled as a result of the tragedy of January 20, 1990, or their close relatives of martyrs; those who became disabled as a result of military provocations of Armenia against the civilian population during the Patriotic War, as well as their relatives, etc.
