Selcuk Bayraktar: TB3 is revolutionary innovation in naval warfare

Bayraktar TB3 has become the first platform to autonomously take off and land from ships with short runways, and this can be considered a revolutionary innovation in naval warfare in a certain sense, Chairman of the Board of Teknofest, Technical Director of Baykar company, Selcuk Bayraktar, told Report.

According to him, Bayraktar TB3 has successfully completed its testing phase, and both testing and development work are currently progressing rapidly.

He noted that this platform has made history as the world's first system to automatically take off and land from ships with short runways:

"Companies in the US and Israel were working in this field. But we achieved this success before them, and currently, both testing and production processes continue. This is actually a revolutionary event in the field of naval warfare."

Bayraktar also highlighted that this success is not limited to TB3; at the same time, the production and development of the Kizilelma platform continues in parallel:

"This officially marks the beginning of our national naval aviation. Previously, we landed aircraft on our naval platforms, but these were not our own designs. Now we have entered this field with a completely national and strategic approach. There is great interest in this field worldwide."

The chairman of Teknofest also stated that work continues on aircraft that can land and take off from ships with short runways, and these platforms are currently being displayed at the exhibition:

"Participation in the exhibition is planned with three aircraft. In previous stages, we participated with two vehicles, but now we will be presented with three vehicles. There might also be some surprises there."

Touching on the cooperation agreement signed in Rome, Bayraktar said that this is a strategic step carried out jointly with one of the world's largest defense industry companies.

"This cooperation covers not only the field of unmanned aerial vehicles but also other high-tech areas. Access to the European market is very important, especially in terms of cooperation with NATO countries. Currently, six NATO countries use our systems. This agreement is of great importance both for the European market and for the common interests of the two countries. Both sides have welcomed this cooperation," he mentioned.
