Minister: OTS – strategic opportunity to expand military-technical cooperation

Robust cooperation mechanisms to be established in the defense industry among Turkic states will not only ensure shared security interests but also contribute to strengthening national defense capabilities, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry, Vugar Mustafayev, said at the first meeting of the heads of defense industry agencies of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

According to Report, the minister emphasized that Azerbaijan highly values the importance of the OTS and considers this platform a strategic opportunity to deepen not only political and economic ties but also military-technical cooperation.

Mustafayev highlighted that OTS countries have significant potential in the defense industry in areas such as joint research and development projects, technology exchange, training of engineering and technical personnel, experience-sharing programs, and joint production.

He noted that the organization serves as a vital platform to minimize the technological dependence of Turkic states in the defense industry. According to him, strategic cooperation among OTS countries is also crucial for strengthening peace and stability on a global scale.

The meeting also discussed the importance of partnerships in the defense industry and areas of cooperation in the military-technical sphere.
