Rovshan Taghiyev: Azerbaijan ranks second in CIS for lowest road fatality rates

Azerbaijan holds the second-lowest rate of traffic-related fatalities and injuries among CIS and Turkic-speaking countries, Rovshan Taghiyev, Head of the Traffic Safety Promotion Department at the Main Directorate of the State Traffic Police, said during the forum titled "Public Processes in the Media Sphere".

Report quites Taghiyev as saying the country has implemented consistent and effective measures to enhance road safety. "We can confidently say that a culture of road awareness has already taken root in society," he noted, emphasizing the crucial role of the media in curbing traffic violations.

"Where once traffic violations were seen as acts of bravado, today they are met with public condemnation — thanks largely to media efforts," he added.
