Articles of Criminal Code for libel and insult to be decriminalized

With the adoption of the new bill "On Media", the laws "On Television Broadcasting" and "On Mass Media" will be abolished, the Executive Director of the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) Ahmad Ismayilov said at a meeting with the heads and representatives of several media outlets.

According to him, studies on defamation continue: "Serious work is being done in this regard. The document is currently being prepared."

Ismayilov said work is underway to remove articles 147, 148, 148.1 (libel and insult) from the Criminal Code.
