The trial against two Azerbaijani servicemen - Agshin Babirov and Huseyn Akhundov, who were captured by the Armenian side after they got lost and found themselves in the territory of Armenia, should be fair and comply with the norms of international law, the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry told Report.
The ministry noted that it is aware of the detention of two Azerbaijani servicemen in Armenia.
“We hope that the competent authorities of Armenia will conduct a fair and speedy investigation into the circumstances of this case. We presume that the attitude towards detainees in Armenia will comply with the norms of international law,” the ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated that Russia continues “to make efforts to normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan on the basis of all tripartite agreements at the highest level dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, as well as October 31, 2022.”
