Ilham Aliyev says Karabakh has considerable potential for development of green energy

The liberated territories have a potential of 9,200 MW of solar and wind energy, according to preliminary information, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev told a meeting with participants of the international conference 'South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation.'
According to the head of state, the 20 MW power plant has already been commissioned, and this year 25 MW capacities will be launched.
As for solar and wind energy in Karabakh, today, Azerbaijan is at the final stage of talks with BP on the construction of the solar power plants with a capacity of 240 MW in Jabrayil, the head of state said. He added that Azerbaijan is also in talks on the creation of 100 MW capacities in Kalbajar.
The head of state reminded that two groundbreaking ceremonies were held for one solar and one wind power plant with a total capacity of 430 MW, built by Saudi Arabia's Aquapower and UAE's Mazdar.
