Fuad Akhundov: Azerbaijan’s position on Karabakh complies with int’l law

Azerbaijan’s position on Karabakh corresponds to the norms of international law, famous Azerbaijani researcher Fuad Akhundov said in the new episode of the “Let’s talk?” program with famous journalist Hamid Hamidov, Report informs.

“The conflict over Karabakh was a conflict of two principles. One is the “force of right”, the other is the “right of force”. All these 30 years we have rejoiced at the strength of international law, according to which internationally recognized borders should not change, sovereignty must be respected, but we couldn’t implement this right, because the other side was using the right of force,” Akhundov said.

According to the researcher, Azerbaijan was able to change the situation in the region by combining the right of law with the right of force: “And now no one can speak to Azerbaijan in an imperative tone.”

Akhundov also spoke about the allies of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Karabakh issue: “The Armenian society doesn’t so much strive to have an ally as a master. And at the moment they are trying to change this master.”

It was important for Azerbaijan in this matter to find allies; they were Türkiye, Israel, and Pakistan, he noted.

During the interview, Akhundov also spoke about emigration to Canada, the hierarchy of Eastern society, the cultural heritage of Karabakh, Armenian mass consciousness, etc.
