"The victory in the Second Karabakh War has changed the image of Azerbaijan. Official Baku has shown the whole world that it is a modern, competent, and strongest player in the South Caucasus," Israeli lawyer, a specialist in international law and international politics Mikhail Finkel told Report.
"It was a great victory in the Patriotic War. This is the newest war in the history of mankind, the newest not only in time but also in the technologies that were used," the expert noted.
According to him, Azerbaijan demonstrated its ability to fight, showed an ultra-modern army, a new generation of highly educated military equipment, specialists, engineers, career officers, military elite special forces.
"This is what it means to wisely use the country's resources, invest them correctly in the world's best weapons and the younger generation, as the country's most important resource. This is an elite army that fought primarily with 'brains'... The intellectual potential of the Azerbaijani army and people was visible here. As a result, the Azerbaijani army set a blitz-math to its enemy," Finkel said.
The expert notes that the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, played a paramount role in this victory: "Everything depended on his tactical and strategic decisions, first of all, on the modernization of the army and the purchase of weapons."
Also, according to the expert, Ilham Aliyev showed himself as a virtuoso and brilliant diplomat. "Military operations are always accompanied or preceded by behind-the-scenes negotiations 'behind closed doors,' which are very complicated and exhausting. And these negotiations were conducted by President Ilham Aliyev," the expert said.
