Professor of Naval Postgraduate School (US) Brenda Shaffer and senior researcher at the Hudson Institute Michael Doran visited a family of former internally displaced persons who returned to their native village of Aghali in Zangilan, Report informs.
The researchers got acquainted with the daily life of the family.
During the meeting, Shaffer noted the importance of returning citizens to their homes, which they had to leave due to the Armenian occupation.
"We see how the city, liberated from the Armenian occupation, is being restored. Zangilan is of strategic importance," Shaffer said.
She also added that the significance of Zangilan will only increase with the opening of the Zangazur corridor, which will allow it to become a center of development and trade.
The smart village of Aghali is the first settlement in Zangilan, where the former IDPs from Zangilan returned thanks to Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Karabakh War.
