Russian and European scientists found huge stocks of ice on Mars

Baku. 21 February. REPORT.AZ/ The ExoMars-TGO Russian-European probe made detailed maps of the distribution of water over the surface of Mars and found several "giant stocks of water ice."

Report informs citing the RIA Novosti that Russian scientists spoke about the results of the observation at the next meeting of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Space in Moscow.

"We have shown that there are several large areas on Mars, about a third consisting of water ice. Two of them are located almost on the opposite side of the planet in the northern and southern hemisphere. We called one of them, located at the zero meridian and equator of the planet 'Great Water Territory',” said Igor Mitrofanov from the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
