Baku. 19 January. REPORT.AZ/ A lunar corona (halo) is observed in the sky over Azerbaijan's Shirvan.
Report's Mil-Mugan bureau informs that the lunar corona, an atmospheric optical phenomenon like a rainbow or the arctic lights, could be seen in the sky over Shirvan at around 10:00 pm on January 18.
Lunar corona appears around the Sun and the Moon, sometimes around other powerful sources of light, such as street lights. There are many types of corona which are caused mainly by tiny icy crystals in cirrus clouds at heights of 5-10 km in upper reaches of the troposphere. The halo type depends on the form and location of crystals.
