Uzbekistan proposes expanding cooperation in cargo transportation with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward concrete proposals to expand multilateral cooperation in cargo transportation, including the development of the Zangazur Corridor.

According to Report, citing the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, Mirziyoyev made the remarks on Friday in Turkmenbashi during a trilateral high-level meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that linking existing and prospective transport corridors would create a sustainable transcontinental route connecting China with South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The new cargo flows aim to ensure efficient utilization of infrastructure in Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

He proposed the development of the Middle Corridor, including the Zangazur Corridor, and called for joint expert work on key issues. These include expanding capacity, creating modern logistics infrastructure at the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku, digitalizing procedures, ensuring cargo control, and implementing coordinated tariff policies. Uzbekistan also expressed its readiness to mutually reduce transportation tariffs to ensure the shortest and most business-friendly access to major markets.
