Sustainability has become a key priority in national housing policies, Matthijs van Oostrum, representative of the Global Research and Analytics Division of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at the event titled "From Policy to Impact: Scaling Up Housing Provision" organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, Report informs.
"We also see that environmental sustainability is a very prominent element. Sustainability is not actually part of the core criteria of housing provision. We at Habitat advocate that it should be included, and this is also reflected in national housing policies. National housing policies pay great attention to sustainability aspects. So, we should take this as an example and incorporate these into our international framework documents."
