TRACECA Sec.-Gen.: Cargo volume transported to Europe via Azerbaijan increases region’s opportunities

Cargo volume transported from Central Asia to Europe via the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan increases the capacity of these regions, Secretary-General of the International Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) Asset Assavbayev said during a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari in Tehran, Report informs referring to Iranian media.

He noted that the increase in the volume of goods transported from Central Asia to Europe via the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan has ultimately led to the importance of routes passing through Iran.

Assavbayev said the purpose of his visit was to highlight the need to maximize the use of Iranian transit routes to transport goods from Central Asian countries to Europe.

Mehdi Safari also spoke about the simplification of issuing visas to drivers of TRACECA member countries for crossing Iranian transit routes.
