SOCAR project to save about 400,000 cubic meters of drinking water per month

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is working on a project to lay a water pipeline to the territory of an oil refinery, head of the Electronic Management and Modern Technologies Department of Azersu OJSC Jabbar Jabbarli said at a conference during the Baku Water Week, Report informs.
According to him, industrial water will be supplied to the territory of the refinery through the pipeline: “The oil refinery is one of the main consumers of water. The enterprise uses 350,000-400,000 cubic meters of water every month. If the project is implemented, this volume of water can be saved.”
Jabbarli emphasized that industrial enterprises use water for cooling: “On the Absheron Peninsula, industrial water is not used for these purposes. The use of this water in enterprises could save drinking water.”
The Azersu representative noted that in Azerbaijan, 8% of water is used for irrigation, 4% in restaurants and event halls, 3% in educational institutions, and 2% in hospitals.
According to him, currently, Azersu OJSC serves 1.82 million subscribers, and the population sector make 96% of them.
