Satkaliyev: Kazakhstan counts on US support in developing Middle Corridor

Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev during his visit to the United States discussed with his American counterpart Chris Wright the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas industry and the supply of Kazakhstani oil to global markets, Report informs referring to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

The meeting took place within the international energy conference CERAWeek 2025.

"The parties also discussed the development of the Strategic Energy Dialogue (SED) between the two countries, issues of diversification of energy supplies and cooperation in the field of green energy. In addition, the ministers discussed in detail the progress of projects at Kashagan, Tengiz and Karachaganak. The Kazakhstani side emphasized the importance of attracting American investments and technologies to these projects," the statement says.

As part of the SED, prospects for cooperation in such areas as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developing renewable energy sources, cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy, and mining of critical materials were considered. Kazakhstan expressed interest in studying the American experience in the development and operation of small modular reactors (SMR).

"Special attention was paid to the diversification of transportation routes for Kazakhstani oil. Minister Satkaliyev emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and expressed hope for US support in its development. The parties also discussed issues related to the impact of sanctions restrictions on the stability of Kazakhstani oil supplies to global markets," the statement says.

"Kazakhstan and the US are strategic partners in the energy sector. We highly value our cooperation and see great potential for its further expansion, including in the field of green energy and new technologies. I am confident that through joint efforts we can contribute to ensuring global energy security and sustainable development," said Satkaliyev.
