Sahil Babayev: Middle Corridor embodies partnership that can withstand geopolitical pressure

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) embodies sustainable partnerships that can withstand geopolitical pressures, said Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijani Finance Minister and a member of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Report informs, citing the ministry.

In his address to the 58th Annual Meeting of the bank held in Milan, Italy, Babayev noted that recent regional and global events have once again highlighted the importance of the Middle Corridor:

"Azerbaijan holds an important position here. In a period of increasing tension and uncertainty, the strategic importance of this corridor as an alternative and reliable route becomes even clearer. This initiative plays a crucial role in diversifying economic dependencies and reducing risks arising from geopolitical changes. The comprehensive analysis and strategic roadmap presented in the latest update aims to strengthen the operation of the Middle Corridor, as well as ensure its function as a sustainable artery of trade and cooperation even during periods of regional or global instability."

The minister also pointed out that Azerbaijan, which has a strategic position at the intersection of East and West, is aware of its decisive role in the development of the Middle Corridor: "The initiatives and action schedules presented today are fully aligned with our national goals related to improving infrastructure, increasing efficiency, and promoting sustainable economic growth. Azerbaijan, expressing its commitment to this initiative, notes that the Middle Corridor is not just a physical connection, but also a force that creates stability. This corridor is not limited to logistics and trade."
