Russia’s Azur Air is negotiating the purchase of leased Boeing aircraft, Deputy General Director for Production of the company Andrey Mukanin told journalists, Report informs referring to Interfax.
“We are working in this direction. But now we proceed from the fact that we operate a fleet of Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft - 14 planes. We plan to continue to operate. If everything works out and comes together the way we want, naturally, the fleet will increase,” he said.
According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, Azur Air has a total of 22 Boeing 737, 757, 767 and 777 aircraft in its fleet.
Mukanin added that Azur Air is taking measures to maintain the airworthiness of its existing aircraft.
“We are doing everything to support it to ensure flight safety. For this purpose, a maintenance shop has been opened at our Vnukovo base,” he said, noting that the company is using Iranian help to repair aircraft engines.
