Number of containers transported along BTK grows 63%

In January-July this year, 13,610 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo were delivered to the destination stations along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, Report informs referring to ADY Container LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
This is 63 percent more than in the same period last year.
The growth was especially significant last month. So, in July this year, the number of transported containers increased 2.1 times compared to the same period last year.
For the seven months, 92 percent of the transported containers accounted for transit cargo.
Cargoes via the BTK, mainly in transit through Azerbaijan, were transported along the China-Turkey, Central Asia-Turkey routes and in the opposite directions.
