Kazakhstan strengthens Middle Corridor with Kuryk-Zhetybai road overhaul

Kazakhstan is on the verge of completing a significant infrastructure project that will bolster its position as a key player in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor.

The Kuryk-Zhetybai road, spanning 64 kilometers and connecting the seaport of Kuryk to the TITR, is undergoing a major repair after nearly half a century of neglect.

The Middle Corridor, a vital trade route linking China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and European countries, relies heavily on efficient transportation infrastructure. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport recognizes the importance of the Kuryk-Zhetybai road in facilitating seamless transit flow through the country's territory.

"Once the facility is put into operation, the time to reach the main TITR corridor through our country's territory will be reduced by another 2 hours," stated Marat Karabaev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, emphasizing the significance of the road repair project.

The completion of the Kuryk-Zhetybai road repair will redirect the entire transit flow directly to the port of Kuryk, eliminating the need for drivers to travel to Aktau. This streamlined route will not only save time but also enhance the efficiency of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor.
