Accurately assessing seismic risks in urban planning is essential for preventing potential natural disasters, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Jabrayil Khanlarov said at the conference "New Approaches to Assessing Seismic Hazard and Risk," dedicated to the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture," Report informs.
According to the deputy minister, since the concepts of seismic hazard and seismic risk are not limited to national borders, it is important to ensure the exchange of information between countries in the region.
"Our goal is not only to identify existing threats but also to mitigate future risks," Khanlarov added.
