Azerbaijan, by strengthening its logistics capabilities along the Middle Corridor, has become a transit and logistics hub for the SPECA (United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia) countries, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev said at a meeting of SPECA economy ministers in Geneva, Report informs.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan has taken steps to reduce trade and transport barriers within the SPECA framework.

At the event, Aliyev emphasized that successful and multilateral cooperation between the countries within the framework of the program is important for ensuring stability in the region in the context of global challenges. In this regard, discussions are important to support the sustainable development of the region. He noted that Azerbaijan's trade interaction with the SPECA member countries is expanding. In 2024, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with the program member countries exceeded $1.1 billion, and in January-February 2025, surpassed $191 million.

The meeting focused on the implementation of strategic documents adopted within the framework of SPECA, the realization of trade and transport potential, deepening mutual trade ties, the Roadmap for digitalization of multimodal exchange of information and documents along the Middle Corridor, financial mechanisms of the SPECA Multilateral Trust Fund, etc.

The event was attended by representatives of the public and private sectors, companies operating in the fields of agriculture, trade, finance, transport and logistics, energy and other areas, as well as representatives of academia and experts.
