Cargo transportation through TRACECA's Azerbaijan segment grows

In January-September 2021, the cargo volume transported on the Azerbaijani part of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) was 30.403 million tons, and the cargo turnover was 7,177.5 million ton/km, respectively, down 1.8% and 2.9% from the same period last year.
Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee that 17,037,200 tons (56%) of all cargo were carried out by road, 9,920,300 tons (32.7%) - by rail, 3,435,500 tons (11.3%) - by sea.
In the total volume of cargo transportation along the corridor, 22.4% or 5,311,400 tons were transit cargo, 355,800 tons or 7.2% more than a year earlier.
Transit cargo made 21.9% or 6,654,100 tons of cargo transported via the corridor.
