Azerbaijan Railways boosts cargo transportation by nearly 2%

In 2024, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) transported 18.565 million tons of cargo, marking a 1.5% increase year-on-year, Report informs, citing the company.
Of the total cargo in 2024, over 8 million tons were transported internationally, showing a 0.3% rise from the previous year.
Additionally, ADY transported 7.296 million tons of transit cargo last year, a 6.2% increase year-on-year.
However, domestic transportation decreased by 4.9%, totaling 3.107 million tons.
The average daily number of trains used for cargo transportation in 2024 was 7.6, a 5.5% increase compared to 2023. The number of containers used during the year slightly decreased by 0.2% to 71,239.
