Azerbaijan posts nearly 15% increase in passenger traffic by rail

In January 2025, 1.5 million tons of cargo and 713,700 passengers were transported by railway in Azerbaijan, marking a year-on-year increase of 9.6% and 14.6%, respectively, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, an average of 436 wagons were loaded and 421 wagons were unloaded per day.

Thus, 19,300 tons of cargo daily were loaded in the northern direction of the railway, 3,200 tons in the western direction, and 700 tons in the southern direction.
