AZAL served nearly 2M passengers in 1H2026

In January-June 2026, Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) served 1.9 million passengers, marking a 5% increase year-on-year, the company told Report.

During the reporting period, AZAL operated 8,462 flights, marking a 7% increase from January–June 2025. The route network expanded to 52 destinations.

Additionally, AZAL added three new-generation Airbus aircraft to its fleet. The airline also launched direct flights to Shymkent, opened ticket sales for Brussels, Kars, Aktobe, and Atyrau, and expanded digital services to improve passenger experience.

Of the total flights, 6,566 were international, representing a 7% increase. The average load factor stood at 79%, while punctuality reached 81%.

AZAL continued efforts to expand its route network, strengthen its fleet with new-generation aircraft, develop digital services, and enhance international partnerships. By the end of the reporting period, the airline's scheduled route network covered 52 destinations, with Moscow, Istanbul, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv, and Ankara among the most popular.

The fleet was reinforced with three new Airbus aircraft – two Airbus A320neo and the airline's first Airbus A321neo – bringing the total number of aircraft in operation to 29.
