Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) has partnered with the Swedish company QTAGG to implement the EcoPilot system, according to Report.
The system has been installed on the RoPax ferry "Azerbaijan" as part of a pilot project. The ferry successfully completed its first sea trial using the EcoPilot system. The main goal of adopting EcoPilot is to achieve fuel savings on each voyage, reducing emissions by around 6%.
EcoPilot technology optimizes the ship’s route and automatically regulates speed through an electronic system, taking into account factors such as wind direction and strength, vessel structure, weather forecasts, and sea currents. This results in reduced fuel consumption and helps minimize emissions.
