Amirbayov: OTS becoming key platform for implementing interconnectivity projects

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is becoming increasingly important as a platform for coordinating connectivity projects, Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, said at a panel discussion at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Report informs.

"For decades, Türkiye and Azerbaijan have been signing major projects that have laid the foundation for today's connectivity in our vast region. I believe coordination is key here, because connectivity projects only become successful when countries and players move from political declarations to concrete mechanisms of interaction. In this regard, I would like to emphasize the growing importance of the OTS, which unites Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and the countries of Central Asia," Amirbayov said.

The representative also noted that the geography of the OTS countries forms the basis of the Middle Corridor. He said that the organization is becoming a platform for coordinating actions, from harmonizing customs procedures to eliminating infrastructure bottlenecks and resolving border issues.

He also noted that the Caspian Sea should be viewed "not as a barrier, but as a unifying link between Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Türkiye."
