AGBC, USACC to host round table on Middle Corridor prospects in Washington

The America-Georgia Business Council (AGBC) jointly with the United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) are organizing a round table focused on the development prospects of the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), Report informs, citing the USACC.

World Bank (WB) Regional Director for the South Caucasus Rolandу Pryce will serve as the keynote speaker at the event.

During the discussion, participants will examine the growing importance of the Middle Corridor as a critical trade and transit artery connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, and Europe. Particular attention will be devoted to prospects for enhancing regional connectivity, increasing trade and investment flows, and deepening economic cooperation among countries along the route.

The round table will take place at the USACC office in Washington.

The World Bank emphasizes that unlocking the corridor's full potential requires investments in railway infrastructure, port capacity, and intermodal logistics centers. Key prerequisites also include improving border management procedures, enhancing logistics coordination, and accelerating the adoption of digital technologies.

Statistical data from the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan indicates steady growth in cargo traffic along the route: 759,000 tons were transported in 2019, 783,000 tons in 2020, 586,000 tons in 2021, 1.485 million tons in 2022, 2.764 million tons in 2023, and 4.484 million tons in 2024.

According to data from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), cargo volume shipped via the Middle Corridor reached 4.7 million tons in 2025, with an additional 10% growth projected by 2027.

By 2027, the route's throughput capacity could reach 10 million tons per year, significantly strengthening Azerbaijan's transit potential and creating conditions to attract new investments in infrastructure projects. The target cargo transportation indicator for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route for 2030 is set at 11.4 million tons.
