The Asian Development Bank will also explore opportunities for green mobility through railway, metro, and road asset monetization projects in Azerbaijan, according to the ADB's Azerbaijan: Country Partnership Strategy (2025–2029), Report informs.
"The [Azerbaijani] government’s priorities include establishing low-carbon transport connections to strengthen its regional logistics position and generate sustainable income prospects for underdeveloped regions. ADB will support the modernization of rail connections—including their digitalization, electrification, and signaling—in anticipation of the unblocking of regional transport gateways," the ADB said.
According to the bank, advancing underdeveloped areas requires rebuilding essential climate and disaster-resilient infrastructure and showcasing innovation by creating zero-emission zones and sustainable management of natural capital.
Azerbaijan has been a member of ADB since 1999. During this period, the bank has provided the country with more than $5 billion in loans, including $1.5 billion for transport projects, $1.7 billion for energy projects.
